The Food and Consumer products division of Exova is now able to offer a full range of training courses for publicans and foodservice operatives selling alcohol with the introduction of the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders to its portfolio.
The one day training course, which is assessed by written examination, covers the main areas that publicans need to understand by law ranging from licensing law, permitted hours, the Weights and Measures Act through to the Young Persons Act, Rights and Duties of the Licensee and the Social Responsibilities of the Licensee.
Exova’s team of expert trainers, many of whom have worked in trading standards and environmental health, already offer a range of courses suitable for those working in foodservice such as HACCP, health and safety and risk assessment training/advice.
Jonathan France, Principal Environmental Health Officer at Exova explains how the range of courses on offer can be a benefit to foodservice operatives and licensees:
“We understand how hectic life can be for a busy publican or catering manager and giving up time to attend essential courses means time away room the business. We are able to offer a range of specialist food courses from one supplier – the BIIAB Level 2 could be combined with a course on HACCP Principles for example – so making the most of time and resources.
“Exova is also able to tailor its courses to the individual business and hold them in-house. This means that we can look at how a company’s own procedures fit in with their legal responsibilities as well as being able to deal with any issues in confidence. And when a number of staff needs to be trained too, the in-house option can be the most cost effective.”
