Having already worked for eleven years in the agrochemical industry Don Brown took a degree in Applied Chemistry graduating with honours in 1983. Following this he worked for Campden Food RA, & Fisons Horticulture before joining Exova (LawLabs) as Senior Analyst in 1989.
He was promoted to Principal Analyst in 1992 and to Food Chemistry Manager in 1995 taking responsibility for the full range of nutritional, compositional & residue testing services provided by Exova (LawLabs). |

In May 2003 Don was appointed as Pesticide Services Manager in order to focus on the development of new facilities and methodologies for the analysis of pesticide residues in food. He is a regular attendee at National and International Pesticide Residue Fora including PRC meetings, and European Pesticide Residue Workshops, and has recently presented the results of new method developments at conferences and in Trade Journals.
Don is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Registered European Chemist and a Member of the Institute of Food Science & Technology and the British Mass Spectrometry Society.
He is also a UKAS trained ISO 17025 Lead Assessor and co-author of Exova (LawLabs) laboratory accreditation standard LABCRED. |

Sue is responsible for the Bassetts Pole Advisory Office and joined Exova (LawLabs) in June 2006, having worked in the food industry since leaving University in 1990. Sue has a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry with Pharmacology and an MSc in Packaging Technology. She has experience of Product Development, Process Development, Technical and Quality System roles in the manufacturing environment and has worked with all of the major Food Retailers over the years. Sue has worked with both ambient and chilled products. |

Fiona graduated with a degree in Food Science from The University of Strathclyde in 1987. She started her career working in quality control for a food manufacturer in Paisley and progressed to managing microbiological and analytical laboratories in the west coast of Scotland.
In 1998 Fiona joined Glasgow City Council as a Food Safety Officer for the Environmental Health Department where she obtained the Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection and the Higher Certificate in Food Standards Inspection. Fiona enforced both food hygiene and food standards regulations in Glasgow for 7 years. During this time she also achieved the Advanced Diploma in Food Hygiene and qualified as a Lead Auditor.
Fiona joined Exova (Lawlabs) in January 2006 and works as a Senior Advisor in the Food Team. |

Dawn joined Hampshire County Council as a Trainee Trading Standards Officer in 1985 and gained the Diploma in Trading Standards in 1989. She worked as a Trading Standards Officer in Hampshire for 14 years; for most of this time Dawn was enforcing a comprehensive range of trading standards legislation. In 2001 Dawn qualified as a Lead Assessor and moved to the Food Team, specialising in the enforcement of food standards legislation.
In 2003 Dawn joined Portsmouth City Council as a Principal Trading Standards Officer (Food Safety) where she worked closely with colleagues in Environmental Health. During this time Dawn achieved the Foundation Certificate in Health Promotion. Dawn joined Exova as a Food Law Advisor in 2008. |

Commencing his career in the Trading Standards Service, Mark gained wide ranging experience over a twelve year period. During this time he enforced a wide range of trading laws and rose to the position of Principal Enforcement Officer in the City of Birmingham responsible for the consumer credit and debt counselling team. He holds a degree in Business Studies and a Diploma in Consumer Affairs.
He moved into the private sector in 1990, joining Exova (Lawlabs) as an advisor on trading law. In particular he specialises in the laws relating to prices, sales promotion, consumer safety, and consumer credit. |

Richard joined Exova (Lawlabs) in 1999 after gaining over 15 Years enforcement experience as an inspector, investigating officer and manager in trading standards. Reaching the level of Principal Trading Standards Officer, he led a specialist Fraud Team for 5 years: conducting and managing high profile investigations, including motor vehicle fraud and anti-counterfeiting cases featured on BBC TV and ITV’s “Cook Report”.
Richard holds the Department of Trade and Industry Statutory Qualification for Trading Standards Officers/Weights and Measures Inspectors. He also obtained the Institute of Quality Assurance Quality Assurance Management qualification and has passed an approved Lead Assessor course.
Richard has extensive experience in dealing with enforcement challenges and setting up and auditing ‘due diligence’ systems on behalf of clients. He specialises in product safety, advertising, marketing and consumer credit law. |

Jonathan is a voting member of the Charted Institute of Environmental Health. Prior to Joining Exova (Lawlabs) he was a District Environmental Health Officer in the Health and Commercial Standards Department of Rotherham Metropolitan Council. In his previous role he gained a wide variety of enforcement experience within the retail and catering industry.
His main duties were conducting programmed food hygiene and health and safety inspections, complaint investigations and investigating infectious disease notifications. Jonathan is a registered CIEH trainer and is currently studying for a Masters of Science Degree in HACCP. | | | | |
